What is Prostatitis

The prostate is a small size gland of male, it is under the bladder and in front of the rectum. It is just as small as a peanut plays an irreplaceable role in male's urology and reproductive system. Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate, it can be divided into three types, acute bacterial prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis(CBS)  and chronic nonbacterial prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS).

Types and Symptoms:
1. Acute bacterial prostatitis
This is a sudden bacterial infection marked by inflammation of the prostate, it is a least common form of prostatitis with the most severe symptoms. 2. Chronic bacterial prostatitis
This condition is resulted in recurrent urinary tract infections that have entered the prostate gland. The symptoms of this kind prostatitis is similar to that of acute bacterial prostatitis, but are less severe and can fluctuate in intensity.
3. Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis
This form can be called as chronic prostatitis(CP)/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS). This is the most common form of the disease, accounting for 90% of the cases. This condition is marked by urinary and genital area pain for at least three of the past six months. Patients have no bacteria in their urine, but may have other signs of inflammation.
Diagnoses of  prostatitis 
If a man is suspected that he has a prostatitis, he needs to see a urologist and do some examinations. The typical exam includes a digital rectal exam. The doctor is able to evaluate whether the prostate gland is enlarged or tender. More tests such as a prostate fluid analysis, transrectal ultrasound, biopsy or voiding studies are needed to be done if the doctor still cannot sure what he has after the digital rectal exam.
Treatment for prostatitis
1.  Antibiotics. 
The history of antibiotic prostatitis treatment is very long. Antibiotics can kill bacteria in the prostate so the inflammation can be removed. This medicine is suitable for acute bacterial prostatitis, but for chronic bacterial prostaitis and chronic non-bacterial  prostatitis, the treating effect may be decreased because patients will produce drug resistance.
2. Alpha-blocker drugs
Alpha blocker drugs like Hytrin and Cardura are used for relaxing muscles in the prostate and bladder to improve urine flow and decrease symptoms.
3. Painkiller pills
As the pain caused by prostatitis is very bothering, patients can also choose painkiller pills to reduce pain.
