Can Ureaplasma urealyticum Cause Prostatitis?

Ureaplasma urealyticum, named for its requirement for urea to grow, is the smallest prokaryotic organism between bacteria and viruses. It mainly resides in the human urogenital tract and is one of the important pathogens of sexually transmitted diseases.

The incubation period of ureaplasma urealyticum infection is 1-3 weeks.

Typical acute stage symptoms are similar to other non-gonorrhea genitourinary tract infections. Symptoms are urinary prickling, different degrees of urgency and frequency of urination, and stinging pain during urination especially when there is a urine concentration.

The urethral orifice is slightly red and swollen, with few secretions. It is serous or purulent. Most of the time it needs to press the urethra forcefully to see secretions overflow. A small amount of mucous secretions or only scab membrane seal or dirty crotch are found at the urethral orifice in the morning.

Prostatitis is a clinical manifestation of pain or discomfort in the pelvic region and abnormal urination, caused by pathogenic bacterial infection and some non-infectious factors. The typical symptoms are urination discomfort, perineal, anal or posterior urethral swelling, radioactive pain, which affecting sexual function, accompanied by fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, and even conjunctivitis and arthritis. Most patients have non-bacterial inflammation.

Ureaplasma urealyticum-induced prostatitis is the biggest obstacle to male infertility, because mycoplasma urealyticum can affect the secretion of male prostatic fluid, and prostatic fluid is an important component of male semen.

Once there is a certain concentration of mycoplasma urealyticum in prostatic fluid, it will have a great impact on sperm activity, affect sperm parameters and hinder sperm production. The activity of sperm makes sperm unable to bind to egg cells normally, thus causing male infertility.

Practical clinical evidence shows that the use of herbal medicine in the treatment of mycoplasma urealyticum-induced prostatitis can be useful. It can eradicate the disease, and is more conducive to male fertility recovery.

At present, herbal medicine Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill is proved to have a very good therapeutic effect. It clears up urealyticum in prostate and reproductive tract, promote blood circulation and restore male sexuality and fertility.
