Can Prostate Infection be Transmitted to Women?
Prostatitis means infection or inflammation in prostate. Inflammation, according to wikipedia, is part of the complex biological response of vascular tissues to harmful stimuli, such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants. As these pathogens can cause STDs, the infection will spread to women when having sexual intercourse.
Thus, if prostatitis is caused by an STD like gonorrhoeae, mycoplasma or Chlamydia, patients should avoid sex until the infection has been cleared completely. Besides, it’s necessary to ask the partners to get checked and have a treatment simultaneously.
