I've been diagnosed with prostatitis for over a year, what effects does prostatitis have on sexual function? I feel my libido is reduce, I don't know if it's related to prostatitis. 

Long-term chronic prostatitis will affect male sexual function and cause impotence, premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction. Chronic prostatitis does not directly damage the blood vessel function of penile erection, but the long-lasting discomfort will cause mental pressure and then lead to depression and anxiety. This mental factor will have impact on the sexual function and reduce the libido. Besides, during the sexual intercourse, the congested prostate will aggravate the local pain and lead to painful and premature ejaculation. In addition, some male patients are worried that the infection will spread to their partners, thus, they are afraid of sexual life. It’s important to keep a positive attitude toward this disease and its treatment. A regular sexual life is helpful to discharge the prostate fluid so as to relieve the prostate pain. A timely and proper treatment is also essential.
