BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) is the most common prostate disease except for prostatitis. This disease usually happens to men over 50. It will cause urinary system abnormalities, thus, patients will suffer from urinary disorders. Then, what are symptoms of BPH?



Symptoms of BPH:
1.Urinate more than usual. Patients have a frequent need to urinate during the day and night. 
2.Difficulty urinating. When there is an urge to urinate, the urine is hard to come out. Patients will also have urinary symptoms like dripping and weak urine flow.
3.Urinary incontinence at night. When sleeping at night, the urine will come out uncontrolledly. Severe patients will also have the condition during the day.
4.Painful and urgent urination. If the urine can not be discharged completely, it will be easy to cause a bacterial infection and induce the phenomena of urinary frequency and painful urination.
5.Urine stream interruption. When the prostate is enlarged, the crystals in the urine will be easy to cohere to form bladder stones, which will lead to a sudden urine stream interruption. The urine stream interruption and bladder stones in elder men are strong signals of BPH.
6.Rectocele, hematochezia, and flatulence. Due to the long-term difficulty urinating, the abdominal pressure will be increased which will induce rectocele, hematochezia, and flatulence.

Self-care for BPH: 
1.Pay attention to the diet.  
Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. Eating less spicy and sweet foods. It’s helpful to increase the intake of vegetables, fruits, soy products, and whole grains. Drinking plenty of water every day is also of benefits, which can prevent urinary track infection.  
2.Don’t hold urine. 
Go to the bathroom immediately when you have an urge to urinate. Holding urine is harmful to the bladder and prostate.
3.Keep the perineum clean.  
Cleaning the perineum is an important part to manage the symptoms of BPH. Patients should clean these areas with warm water. It can help to relieve the tension of muscles and prostate.
4.Regular sexual life.  
Excessive sexual life will cause long-term prostate congestion, which will worsening the symptoms of BPH. However, abstain from sex will cause discomfort in prostate. Therefore, patients should keep a regular sexual life.
